The Gledhill Brothers Instrumental Guitar Duo

The Gledhill Brothers

In concert at the Issoudun Guitar Festival, France October 2004.

Who are the Gledhill Brothers?

Mike and Brother Chris have been playing guitar for over 25 years and are Fingerstyle guitarists of the highest standard. They are both registered guitar tutors and run the Gledhill School Of Fingerstyle Guitar at Pocklington Music. The pair have been playing together seriously for many years and realised they had this special connection, enabling them to produce the unique Gledhill brothers sound, so much enjoyed by anyone lucky enough to have heard them play.

Gledhill Bros and Chet

The Chet Atkins Connection

They play primarily in the style of their mentor, the late, great Chet Atkins, one of the finest guitar players ever, whose music inspired them to learn to play at an early age. Mike and Chris joined the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society in 1991 and perform at their guitar nights in and around London. The society has been going for over 20 years and has many members worldwide. The founder member Jim Beam has helped the brothers over the years with encouragement and support.

Chets presentation evening Bristol 1994

A dream came true for them in 1991 when they visited Chet in Nashville and spent some time playing guitar with the master in his office on the historic Music Row.

In 1994 Chet came to Bristol on his 70th Birthday and played a wonderful open air concert at the amphitheatre. There was a presentation evening the previous night at which the boys and the Richard Smith Trio played. It was a fantastic evening for all who attended. Chet signed Mikes Aria semi acoustic guitar and a lovely photo was taken for the Bristol evening press.

Sadly Chet passed on in 2001 after a long battle with cancer, but his music will live on with the many devoted fans he has worldwide.

God Rest His Soul

in concert

In concert at the Issoudun Guitar Festival, France October 2004.

The boys were invited to play at the Issoudun Festival of the Guitar, held in October 2004, a prestigious three day festival held every year at Issoudun, France. They played a 45 minute set, which after several encores ended up running for over an hour. They went as the unknown newcomers, and left as the stars of the evening, with an invitation to attend in 2005! In the post concert clamour to buy their CDs a young Frenchman told the brothers "Your smile is in your music," exemplifying what able ambassadors they are for the art of Fingerstyle guitar.

The Duo have released three CDs :
